CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd is back at work on Capitol Hill after two hospital visits in a two-week period.
Spokesman Jesse Jacobs says the 90-year-old West Virginia Democrat was released Wednesday night after his most recent hospital stay, which lasted for one week.
The longest-serving senator in U.S. history was initially hospitalized on Feb. 27 after a fall at his Virginia home.
Byrd was kept in the hospital for three days for observation and physical therapy. He was hospitalized again last week following a reaction to antibiotics he was taking to treat a urinary tract infection.
