A Personal Tour Inside Kanawha County Metro 911 Center
Until now.... "What happens in Metro, stays in Metro"
One Veteran Police Officer on metro 911….“This is dangerous to the agencies that are trying to call in traffic stops, request assistance, request further directions to emergency calls like heart attacks & such. Their dispatcher may not hear the request because they are on a 911-phone call. Both are important, but rare is the person that can give appropriate attention to both duties.”…
There is more to running an effective emergency center then just a new facility and equipment. Employees worked without a Personnel Policy Manual for years. Directives & rules were handed down on an as-needed basis via memo. New & part-time employees weren’t copied on old memos, so they had no policies from which to work from.
Imagine a workplace where no employee received any sexual harassment training, no racial sensitivity training, no OSHA training, no written policies for grievances, state & federal compliance regulations, and no written protocols for when an employee is even qualified to work on their own…..
