CAPITO TAKES COVER FROM VOTERS, PUBLIC DEBATES
- Barth Eager and Willing to Discuss Issues, Talk With Voters-
Charleston, W.Va. – Shelley Moore Capito took cover today and rejected debating and discussing the issues important to West Virginia voters by refusing to participate in West Virginia Wesleyan’s Young Democrats-Young Republicans ‘2008 General Debate.’
Anne Barth has accepted invitations to participate in every debate offered, including West Virginia Public Broadcasting/Associated Press on October 19; WEPM/The Journal on October 29; and WSAZ on November 1. Barth accepted Wesleyan’s offer, but the campaign was informed that Mrs. Capito declined. Barth and Capito also jointly participated in editorial board meetings with the Charleston Gazette and the Charleston Daily Mail in early September.
“This election is about providing leadership and courage and Shelley Moore Capito displays neither, but I guess if I had her voting record, I wouldn’t want to talk about it either,” said Talley Sergent, spokesperson for the Anne Barth for Congress campaign. “I call on Mrs. Capito to participate in 18 debates – one for each county – to ensure that voters are well-informed when they cast their vote on Election Day.”
“Anne Barth believes we need to restore the public’s faith and trust in Congress and looks forward to continuing her conversation with the voters of the Second District,” Sergent added.

If Shellie has nothing to hide from the voters, then what is she afraid of? I guess she's too "Uppity" to debate a normal tax paying citizen.
