Hey! Did any of y'all catch the Blankenship/Kennedy debate on the radio just now??

I thought it was pretty good. Kennedy I thought seemed to score the most hits especially his question/point tha the coal industry keeps saying MTR can be be done and not hurt the environment but the continued number of violations they are cited from it does not support that claim.

I thought Blankenship really didn't have many facts at his command that supported his position but he did use humor and didn't let Kennedy really get him angry which helped him sort of put off the image of the evil coal stripper.

I was glad they were mostly congenial and the crowd mostly polite(from what it sounded like) Now will the coal supporters show their asses on the way out of the place?

I'd like to see one of the WV papers do a story tomorrow examining all the statements for factual accuracy, but given how lame most WV media is I'm not holding my breath.

While Administration officials work to determine new policies to oversee mountaintop removal permits, a much more public debate on the subject was held Thursday in Charleston.

Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship and environmentalist Robert Kennedy, Jr. faced off on coal, climate change and the nation’s energy future.

Thousands packed the auditorium and tuned in on television and radio for the debate at the University of Charleston.

Much of the debate was predictable, as Blankenship and Kennedy stuck to talking points.
