Nursing Home & Hospital Report Card Shows Alarming Abuse And Neglect Of Patients In WV

The majority of all nursing homes in WV received failing grades from Medicare recently because of the growing amount of abuse and neglect they found during their inspections.

Medicare also provided the statistics on each nursing home & hospital compiled in a list posted in the story link below. What the feds did find is that 90% of the ongoing problems is related to the fact that most violating nursing homes/hospitals hire employees with a history of abusing patients.

Federal Regulations do not require State inspectors or the nursing home to notify patients and their families that a particular patient's care has been the subject of a survey violation. Even a finding of substandard care or actual harm does not require notification.
