Was just listening to Malloy on AirAmericaradio.com and some guy just called in, he and 15 others are camped out overnight in his hometown so they can head down to the court house first thing in the morning and cast early votes for John Kerry!

WoooHooo!!

Sorry, didn't catch the town's name.

1. Charleston was the town!
They made the local news this morning on WOWK TV! They did a good interview! The campers got some good licks in on Brother Shrub!

2. The group in Parkersburg
who camped out got harassed by the police and were accused of violating campaign laws by campaigning too close to a polling station- the Wood Co. courthouse.

3. It was me
It was great, we were in Fairmont. As for the Wood Co. people, we had to have all of our stuff down before 8:30, it didn't become a polling place until then.

According to the Sec of State 300 ft rule doesn't apply to early voting places.

5. if you look on the door in the pic
there's a sign from the SOS's office stating that no campaigning materials could be on county property, so no the 300 ft rule doesn't apply, but this also meant that county employees had to scrape any political stickers off their car tuesday night if they parked in a county owned lot, which is a little far if you ask me.

6. Very Cool! Are you with the group from WVUP?
I don't see how the 300 ft rule could apply to cars near the wood co. courthouse as there's no parking for miles... (just kidding, but it seems like it whenever I go downtown)

7. no, I'm in Fairmont
FSU did this, and from what I hear we were the only group in the state to successfully pull it off. We had to stay within a very very small area in front of the courthouse which was county property and therefore didn't fall under the city vagrancy laws. Other county's courthouse plazas are actually owned by the city. I know WVU was going to do a similar thing, but the plaza in motown is owned by motown not mon county. Also, the sticker thing only applied to county lots, and only to county employees, so in wood county if Parkersburg owns the parking meters even if within 300 ft, they would be o.k.

8. Kudos from a former Fairmonter
I saw the photo in the online edition of the TimesWV.

So what was the turnout like for the early voting? A friend did the early voting in Martinsburg, and said that the lines were out the door.
