Female legislator numbers falling (West Virginia)
http://www.wvgazette.com/section/News/Today/2004122834

With the 2004 election, the number of women in the Legislature dropped from 25 to 21, placing West Virginia among the states with the fewest female lawmakers.

According to the January issue of State Legislatures, published by the National Conference of State Legislatures, women will make up 15.7 percent of the West Virginia Legislature for the 2005 session — the 10th lowest percentage in the United States.

That percentage could drop lower, with last week’s resignation by Sen. Lisa Smith, R-Putnam, if her successor is a man.
