Foes question fetal violence bill--WV
http://www.wvgazette.com/section/News/Other%20News/2005030823

With Gov. Joe Manchin eager to sign the measure and its passage considered certain, foes spoke out Tuesday against a bill that would treat the unborn as separate victims from their mothers for most violent crimes.

A public hearing by the House Judiciary Committee drew several critics of Senate Bill 146 who alleged the measure aims to chip away at the legal right to an abortion.

“It is a deceptive bill that is exploiting a terribly, terribly tragic issue,’’ said Margaret Chapman, lobbyist for the abortion rights coalition West Virginia Free. “The loss of a wanted pregnancy is a horrific tragedy. We believe this bill is exploiting that.’’

1. Usual right wing crap - women are not worth much. Babies are more
important than women's health.

One funny thing about the Constitutional amendment they want for abortions. Female fetuses would have more right unborn than born. Once they were born, they would loose rights because women's right are not guaranteed by the Constitution.

Sad and sickening.

3. I've already written my reps about it, but damn, this is sad
and I know each one of them will vote for it. They have to- we saw what they did to McGraw, can't you see the political ads that would come out of a vote for no on this?

"Mr X Politician voted against holding killers of unborn babies from going to jail. Do you want him representing you?"

They'll all get the McGraw treatment, now that the republicans have seeh how easy it is to smear your opponent, but this is another chink in the state dems armor.
