WV Senate panel OKs abortion notification

With Wednesday looming as the last day for a bill to emerge from the chamber where it was introduced, lawmakers began the big push in committees to get bills to the floor for consideration.

Thursday, committees moved forward with legislation forcing health insurance plans to provide contraceptives and forcing minors to notify parents when having an abortion, while refusing to consider Gov. Joe Manchin’s government reorganization plan.

Members of the House Government Organization Committee adjourned Thursday rather than consider Manchin’s massive reorganization plan. While not scheduled to meet today, there was speculation by members that a meeting would be called.
