Senator Randy White

Most of you know Senator Randy White. For those who may not, let me be blunt: the Senate is a very ugly place. There are few friends of educators, or low income people, or labor, or women, or the environment, etc.

Randy White is one of a very few friends that we have in the Senate.

Perhaps one story (among many) will tell you why I am supporting Randy White for re-election. As you know, Don Blankenship spent millions of dollars in a successful attempt to defeat Warren McGraw. Given Blankenship's success, many Democrats would not go out of their way to take on Blankenship. But not Randy White.

One month after Warren McGraw was defeated, Randy White and a number of community activists held a press conference and demanded that A T Massey re-hire the union miners who at been laid-off from the Horizon mine before Massey took it over. A T Massey and Don Blankenship had a "moral and legal" responsibility to the laid-off miners and the community according to Randy White and the community members. You can bet that Don Blankenship will not forget Randy White's courage. Nor should we.
