4. All fine here in central Wis. but I just talked to my son
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 10:36 PM by KC21304
in Madison and he said there was a lot of damage and one death south of Madison. He was watching the pictures on TV. Earlier he talked to a friend of his in Waukesha who was out playing softball when things started falling out of the sky. Some of it was mail from Dane County. He wasn't joking either.

On edit, I know my son's friend lives in Waukesha but I'm not sure where he was playing softball.

10. Tornado that hit Stoughton may have been an F4
So that must have been what was throwing the debris so far. That's HUGE for Wisconsin.

5. Brookfield was quiet...
Windy but nothing else. Reports on the news that debris from the tornado at Stoughton was raining down on people's yards around here. I'll have to check in the morning.

14. I had a meeting in Pittsville
last night and about 5 miles south of Marshfield the rain was so heavy that people were pulled off to the side of highway 13. I just happily hydroplaned my way along in my little old Mazda....

Glad everybody is okay.

Looks like the damage in Stoughton is really severe...last I saw last night a tornado was heading for the Racine/Kenosha area...did everybody fare okay there too?

7. Still storming here in Algoma.
I don't mind the storm - we need the rain desperately. But the power flickering is annoying.

Talked to my mom in Whitewater. They had a tornado warning, and they all had to go sit in the hallway of their apartment. Fortunately, the power stayed on (as did her oxygen).

I also spoke to a friend in Fort Atkinson. They had power out for several hours, but didn't know about the damage yet. I guess the north shore of Lake Koshkonong got hit pretty hard.

15. It moved by to the south of us here in Tosa
Gave us quite a nice lightning show off in the distance.

But what looked nice to us was damn scary to others, hope everyone is okay.

16. Today our Town Administrator
and Town Crew went down to Stoughton to help out. They took the tree chipper along and put in a full day.

When he got back this evening, my boss (the Admin) said that it was just horrible. It was so sad, and while they were working near the house where the man was killed, someone managed to go into the house to retrieve the wife's wedding ring. Lots of tears.

One of the crew said that they could work for weeks and not get it cleaned up. I can't imagine what that would be like.

17. I feel horrible
about the destruction and loss of life.

I usually get a good "heads-up" from my son and pass it along but he wasn't at work last night (in Florida) and I was on the road on my way to a meeting......:( :( :( :(
