Wisconsin State Journal called to say they are running my letter
I sent it through the PEN (People's Email Network) and decided to include the WSJ in my email. I deliberately wrote my text to be "letter-worthy". Less than an hour later, they called me to say they are running it on Monday. We'll see.

It's about troop pull-out in Iraq.

See? Those emails DO work!

3. I actually had to correct PEN on our local papers.
They had not listed WSJ as a Madison paper but had some other thing (Herald-Tribune?) instead. WSJ has the largest circulation in the city and is actually a conservative paper here in a liberal town. I wanted to make sure the message got to them.

Emailed the PEN to change the paper choices. Once done, I shot the letter off to them and couldn't believe how quickly they called me. It is only like 5 sentences long too.

I'll post it here if they print it.

4. They printed it!
Here's the email I sent them:

Their title: U.S. isn't preventing civil war

One of the pretexts for the U.S. keeping troops in Iraq was to prevent a civil war. AFter the suicide bombing of Shiite people in Baghdad on Thursday that killed 60 and wonded 70, it is clear we are not preventing civil war.

We must get the U.S. troops out of there now and start diplomatic relations with Iraq's neighbors, including those we don't like very much. We need to have people qualified in diplomacy to get this done.

AllyCat,
Madison
