Sen. Feingold
Got a call from a very nice man asking for donations for Russ. I told him I would vote for Russ but he's not getting any more money from me until I find out how he voted on the Lieberman retention. I could go along with letting him remain in the Dem caucus but he should not have kept the Homeland Security chairmanship. The caller said Obama wanted the Senators to support Lieberman and I said they don't have to do everything Obama says. The man asked me to hold on the line while he discussed this with his supervisor. When he came back he said they really weren't sure how Russ voted but they think he probably voted to let Joe keep the chairmanship. I said I think so too. They could send me the donation envelope but I wasn't giving until I found out. I emailed Russ's site but I bet he will give me the run around and not tell me how he voted.

1. I don't think he'll give you the run around
I think he'll probably list for you the reasons why he did what he did. I've gotten reply letters like that in the past when I have contacted him regarding the way he's voted. I hope you'll let us know if you get a reply

2. email rejection
I emailed Feingold with my questions. The reply was a form reply saying he would respond if I put in my name, address, etc. The thing was I had included all this info in my email. Did I get a brush off? Seems like it.

3. I have no problem with Russ voting this way.
I wish the Dem leadership would have told Joe to fuck off. I wish Obama would have told Joe to fuck off. Absent that, I would assume that Russ would vote to retain him. Russ seems like a kind man who would not vote to exclude Lieberman if Joe wanted to caucus with the Dems. I don't think it was within Russ' power to say that Joe could caucus but not get a chair.

4. Is Helen jumping ahead of time here?
Liberman is in trouble, period.
He has to perform, for the Dems and very quickly.
If he takes on GOP-style step at Homeland, he will get booted faster than a Bush pardon.

As far as Feingold, his office is busy and it takes time to get a reply.
A Senate office is not a McDonalds Drive through, and the world does not revolve around you and your expectations of immediate gratification.

Let the Senator know your position(s), and leave it at that.
The staff does read everything that comes in.
I get letter responses a month after I send an email.
Which is fine, I don't expect them to drop what they do, for me.

Sounds like Helen, has a revenge issue (with Lieberman).
That's a very Republican behavior.

5. email rejection, too
I got the same reply as Nipper59 did. I had included all the info they said they needed before they would respond to me and still I got not response. I might have a "revenge" issued with Lieberman but the Dems should have shown some spine and disciplined him. And he is not to be trusted. I heard it takes a 2/3rds vote of the Senate to remove any one from a committee chairmanship. If that is true, and I am not sure about it, he would never be voted out of the chairmanship.
On a separate issue I wrote a letter to Feingold about his comments that McCain would be a good president and he wasn't sure Obama would win. He said this on at least two occasions. I was a supporter of Feingold when he first ran for office but as you can see I am a little upset with him.

6. Over the last eight years of this murderous bunch running
our constitution into the toilet, Sen. Feingold voted to retain our rights, and now he has stepped up again and is working right now to restore the rule of law. If getting a reply to your voting question is bothersome, try and think about him trying to restore the rule of law in this country. The Governor of Arizona will be overseeing this Department, and she is a very smart capable person who will keep this organization in line.

7. You misunderstand
It is not that he hasn't answered me it is his blind support of Lieberman that upsets me. It will be interesting to see if he supports Burris' admission to the Senate.

Senator Feingold is excellent at getting back to his constituents. I'm sure he'll make an effort to give you an answer.

10. Finally got my answer
from Russ via email. Well, it really wasn't an answer. He said Liebeman was allowed to caucus with the Dems and remain as chairman of the Homeland Committee but resigned from some other minor committee. Big wow, I knew that already. I asked him why Lieberman wasn't disciplined but that went unanswered as I knew it would.
