restaurant suggestions please
An old friend is coming in from Chicago to have lunch with me tomorrow. We haven't seen each other in 20 years (OMG) and we're looking for a restaurant that is comfortable and won't give us the evil eye if we sit there for a couple hours at lunch. Any suggestions?

4. I like spokes--just west of I-94 on hwy 20 Racine
sort of a harley deli
not as bad as that may sound

decent sandwiches, deli format.
Full bar
Good portions, ok prices and easy as hell to find off the freeway.

Been there maybe 4 times, no bad experience.

Southside of milwaukee??
Hmmmm
not much help there

What-old third ward?
some restaurants there
Milwaukee Ale House
Had a nice time at a place called Swigs (i think it is on broadway?)
last Friday night....
Not much help --sorry

But have a good time.

5. Some good lunch places:
Transfer on Mitchell in Milwaukee (best pizza in Milwaukee/pasta/sandwiches/bar)
Sheridan's in (surprise!) Cudahy (very good hotel restaurant, a bit pricier than the others but not too bad)
Riviera Maya on KK in Milwaukee (Oaxacan/Mexican)
Saffron Indian Bistro on Bluemound in Brookfield (buffet, so you may get the evil eye)
Any of the Diablos Rojos restaurants (Cafe Centraal is on KK, south of downtown--European-style bar food)

Enjoy!

Thunder Bay Grille is closer to OP and not dirt cheap, but great atmosphere, very comfy and will likely be accommodating.

OOOOoo, also a BIG fan of Curly's Waterfront in Pewaukee: http://www.curlyswaterfront.com/ The people there are great and it's quite pretty!

7. milwaukee eats
I'm kind of partial to Kil@wat. It's in the hotel at, where else, Kilborn and Water. Midway between average and expensive, but the food has always been great. If you have the time, catch a show at the Rep.

9. La Estacion in Waukesha
worked out really well, food was good (as always) and it was quiet, they didn't mind that we stayed for nearly 3 hours.

10. La Estacion is very good.
My ex and I went there after we filed for divorce. I got the huevos divorciados. It seemed fitting.
