A community activist on Friday filed two complaints against Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn and asked for a criminal investigation, all concerning an affair Flynn had with a married journalist.
LaMonte C. Harris, who has been outspoken on education and other issues in the city, filed complaints with the city's Fire and Police Commission and the Ethics Board.
Harris and supporters also met briefly with Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm and set up a meeting with him for next week. In a letter, Harris asked Chisholm to investigate whether Flynn committed
adultery, a felony in Wisconsin. Chisholm said he will talk to the group about the law but made no commitment on an investigation.
Harris acknowledged that adultery is rarely prosecuted but said that someone in Flynn's position should not be violating any laws. "It sends a bad message," Harris said.
