Milwaukee area DUers: Gwen Moore needs us on August 11
Like other progressives across the country, we need to stand up for our congresswoman and outnumber the crazies who will try to shout her down and take over the meeting. Please, if you are at all able, be there (early) to help support her. :patriot:

Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 4-6 p.m.

North Division High School, 10th and Center Street, Milwaukee, WI

Milwaukee – Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) will hold an informational session to hear from her constituents on the proposed health care reform legislation that the House of Representatives will likely consider in September.

A representative from the University of Wisconsin is expected to be on hand to give a non-partisan, informational presentation on the bill’s specifics.

Congresswoman Moore will also answer questions that constituents have submitted online on health care reform. Those who plan to attend need to submit their questions online prior to the event. Please e-mail your questions to moorehealthevent@mail.house.gov

If you want to ask a question, remember to submit it online. This is probably designed to rein in the disruptors, but I doubt it will slow them down much.

1. Just out of curiousity, do you have any idea how 'early' we'd need
to get there?

And, do they need any volunteers? Cause, being unemployed with no health insurance, I have plenty of time.

2. Early enough
to make sure the disruptors don't get all the seats. That seems to be their M.O. How soon that is I don't know.

3. To be more specific, doors open at 3 pm
Here's the latest announcement:

Representative Gwen Moore will be holding a listening session tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday August 11, at North Division High School. As you may know, right wing thugs have been disrupting Congressional listening sessions around the country, harassing Democratic members of Congress, and trying to shut down the debate on health insurance reform. That’s why Gwen needs friends of President Obama’s health security plan like us to turn out in force tomorrow afternoon. The session begins at 4, but the doors open at 3, and it’s important for us to arrive early.

Representative Gwen Moore’s Listening Session
Tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday August 11th
North Division High School
10th and Center Streets in Milwaukee
The doors open at 3 p.m., and the session begins at 4
PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY!

Bring your signs, bring your camcorders, and – especially – bring your friends. And please plan to be respectful and civilized when you address opponents of health insurance reform. Remember, a well-placed “shhhhhhhhhhh…” will go a long way.
