Good news! Louis Butler nominated to be U.S. District Court judge
The Western District serves roughly the western two-thirds of Wisconsin and is based in Madison. Take that, Gableman! Butler will be a great judge, with a lifetime tenure. :toast:

Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Louis B. Butler was nominated by President Barack Obama Wednesday for a federal judgeship.

He is being nominated to serve as U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Wisconsin. He would replace U.S. District Judge John Shabaz, who took senior status in January.

Wisconsin U.S. Sens. Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold recommended Butler and Madison attorney William Conley for the judgeship.

Butler's nomination now goes to the U.S. Senate for confirmation.

2. I'm glad you beat me in posting this bit of good news dragonlady!
Better news would be to see John Byron Van Hollen, Annette Zeigler and the "Honorable" Gableman behind bars with Tommy Thompson and some Gitmo transfers...

4. Comment from Sensenbrenner on the nomination, about what you'd expect
Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner ripped into President Barack Obama Thursday for nominating a former state Supreme Court justice to serve as a U.S. District Judge for Wisconsin's Western District. Louis B. Butler was one of two picks recommended to the White House by Wisconsin Sens. Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold.

“The fact of the matter is that Mr. Butler lost a state-wide election, held by the people of Wisconsin, to continue serving on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court," Sensenbrenner said in a statement. "Now, the man who was voted off the bench in Wisconsin is being given a promotion, a lifetime appointment and a pay raise."
