Milwaukee County DA supports Concealed Carry

From the article: " The package that I am advocating for is based on 10 years of really focused firearm violence prevention strategies. The reality is that Wisconsin’s CCW statute, 941.23, has always been one of the most overbroad and constitutionally challengeable statutes in the country. At the same time, it’s been paired with one of the weakest penalties for committing the offense of CCW. So you’ve got really the worst of all worlds."

Wisconsin is one of 2 states that currently does not allow any sort of legal concealed carry for private citizens. I'm glad to see a public representative finally coming on board with CCW. Other aspects of his plan also seem interesting, such as private transfers being done through licensed dealers and getting background checks, though I'd like to hear more about them before I come totally on board.

Also, I'm curious as to how "strict" a CCW permit he has in mind. But it's a start either way.

It's time for Wisconsin Democrats to get their heads out of their asses on this issue, because this issue could be one of the major tipping points in our upcoming gubernatorial election.

The sighted should not be the only ones to appreciate their God-given right that happiness is a warm gun.

And the requirements that must be met in order for a "legally blind" person to hunt? Do you also know what it is to be "legally blind" in the first place? Or is this something that you heard someplace and feel that it's fun to parrot and make fun of it elsewhere without fully understanding the law in the first place?

Or, do you just have something against disabled people? (Oh yeah, I totally went there, cuz you were askin for it ;) ).

There is something unsettling about the concept of a legally blind person firing a weapon under any conditions.

Here's an edit for you: I do not respond to any posts in the Guns forum but you did cross post this to the Wisconsin forum. I think in the future I will simply avoid these OPs no matter how many other places they get cross posted into.

7. It doesn't take a genious to see your post was unrelated to the subject matter.

Outside of a lose relationship in that both the OP and your post involve firearms, the issues of concealed carry and of legally blind hunters are very different, involving a different sent of arguments pro and con. There's no power from on-high that is needed to see this point, and given that I started this thread, I think I'm at the very least entitled to comment on if I think somebody is trying to derail it.

If you chose to remove yourself from the debate, that's your prerogative. But don't paint me as some sort of asshole because I asked that we keep the discussion on topic.

Oh, I'm sure the willfully ignorant will no longer support him, but for every bit of support he'll lose, he'll gain support from somebody else on this issue.

The simple fact is that all the doom and gloom stories about "blood running in the streets" that were spread around by the VPC and Brady Campaign never came to pass in the shall issue states as they claimed it would. The only people who buy into this crap anymore are people who either haven't bothered to do the fact checking on the issue themselves, or who simply hate the idea of an armed populace and don't care what the facts state.

My wife and I would be right there with you. The existence of a police force is not an abrogation of the necessity for a person to take personal responsibility for their own defense, and to disallow a person from carrying out that defense in a reasonable yet effective manner (such as concealed carry) is immoral.
