2. Czeslaw "Chester" Marcol

...has had some wonderful successes, but also major struggles. Big ups and downs in his life. Check the wiki page. Hillsdale College, his alma mater, is known for refusing all government aid, and was described by the National Review as one of the "citadels of conservatism."

If he's going around to schools, though, it's a good bet he's doing much better, personally. Sure hope so. First name's pronounced, "CHESS-lav."

4. He Has A Heart Of Gold

I teach a summer school class called "Packermania", I called him several years ago to see if my students could write to him, and he said "sure!" Then he said that if they wanted anything autographed, he'd so that and send it back. He's done that for six years in a row now, and refuses to take a cent. He's on a fixed income, has health issues, and lives 4 and a half hours north of here. I'm psyched. This link on the bottom of his wiki page is an excellent summary of his life.

He is so nice in person, and he has been so generous to my summer school "Packermania" students. Long, long, story. He is a very kind, serious but funny person. It is an honor that he considers me a friend.
