Via email... Supporters of the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice (WNPJ) and the Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) are invited to come to a meeting to discuss the creation of a progressive caucus within the Wisconsin Democratic Party. In this caucus we will promote the party platform and resolutions which are very much in line with the campaigns of WNPJ and PDA. The meeting will occur in the Monona Room on Saturday, June 12, directly after the adjournment of the Wisconsin Democratic Party convention (approximately 1:30 PM). The convention is being held in the Madison Marriot West Hotel at 1313 John Q Hammons Drive, Middleton, WI. (go to www.wisdems.org for details of convention). The meeting to discuss the formation of a Progressive Caucus within the Wisconsin Democratic Party is free and open to the public. Ed Garvey (former candidate for governor and organizer for Fighting Bob Fest) and Frank Boyle (former state representative and founder of Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice), will be at this meeting to discuss a progressive caucus. Steve Carlson and Jim Carpenter who are members of the party, PDA and WNPJ will facilitate the meeting. You are encouraged to come to the convention. The cost of the convention is $20 in advance and $30 at the door. The debate on the party platform and resolutions begins at 8:30 in the morning on Saturday. If you are not a delegate, you cannot participate in the debate and voting. However, you can witness it -- which will be good preparation for participating in the progressive caucus meeting. As you will see from the party website, the proposed platform and resolutions are very progressive (http://www.wisdems.org/release_details.asp?id=456). The problem is our elected officials and candidates often fail to try to enact our platform and resolutions. The military industrial complex prevails, Single Payer was given no support, wealth becomes more concentrated, bad actors on Wall Street become more powerful and our natural environment continues to worsen. The Progressive Caucus hopes to hold our elected officials and candidates accountable to our progressive platform. Hope to see you at the meeting! Peace Jim Carpenter and Steve Carlson (PDA Organizer for Wisconsin)NGU.
