Hartland is reporting SEVENTY-FOUR PERCENT voter participation rate!
Wards 1-7: 3,003 registered voters 2,049 votes cast=68%
Wards 8-13: 2,348 registered voters 1,896 votes cast=81%

That was bad for the Democrats.

:o

1. Waukesha Co. and western suburbs are high performers for the r's
They've won awards there for turnout.

Mostly an anti-urban thing.

2. Clearly. And people on DU are blaming us liberals for Feingold's loss.

3. Gee, I thought they were blaming progressive hippy boomers.
Blame may be cathartic for some but it isn't going to get the program very far.

4. I think it was time for the dumbasses of Wisconsin to have
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 07:56 PM by undeterred
a Senator who was truly their own. A senator with no experience, no intelligence, not even an agenda of his own -someone who could just let the corporate bosses at Fox News tell him what to do at every turn. Well they got him. God knows they didn't want someone who was brilliant or experienced, or cared about his constituents or won every debate or got every endorsement in the state or is respected throughout the country. They wanted an empty shell of a man with the moral fiber of a doughnut and that is exactly what they got.

Hopefully they will be happy with Senator Dumbass.

I expect that Senator Kohl will retire after this term is complete. So in two years the progressive intelligent population of Wisconsin will have a chance to elect a Senator who represents our values, our hopes, and our dreams for our state and country.

6. Well, if more dumbasses turn out to vote than the intelligent people, they win.
In politics as in life, sometimes shit happens and neither are fair.

7. Sometimes there is dumbass remorse.
Some of those people who voted for Johnson yesterday had previously voted for Feingold. I have no trouble predicting that they will regret it. Lots of them will.

8. I know one of 'em. I was floored when she FB'd that she was at Dumbass'
party. Said she was mad at Feingold for raising her insurance premium rates. The disconnect is maddening. She has admitted it's not really his fault but thought he needed to get the message.

Hope she enjoys her neighbor's idiocy for the next how many terms he is able to afford to buy.

10. I know Republicans who previously voted for Feingold, but didn't this time.
People were pissed and Feingold had the bullseye on him. They may regret it, but odds are they won't admit it.

11. Nobody agrees with an elected official 100% of the time.
There are plenty of people in Madison to the left of Feingold. Don't like his stance on Israel/Palestine. Mad at him for voting for Roberts.

The thing is - Feingold always gives you his reasons for doing something, and he sticks to it, doesn't waffle. He is clear and consistent. You can disagree with him and he isn't offended. You can argue with him. He doesn't treat people who disagree with him like they are stupid.

Its rare to find someone like that.

13. People believe they can trust Feingold,
but for most who did not vote for him this election was not about trust, it was about their anger. Feingold was simply a high profile target for that anger.

12. This is entirely my reaction to the election, except the part about Kohl retiring
If Kohl retires, Paul Ryan is my guess for the 2nd Senator from this bonehead state. It was a fluke that someone as qualified, and outstanding as Russ could ever win more than one statewide election in this sea of proud ignorance. Hopefully Russ will get more national exposure if some MSM has the fortitude (I know, this is probably barking in the wind) to give Russ exposure.

14. I really don't want to see Ryan become senator.
I can't stand him and once elected he'd be around forever. So here's to Herb Kohl. Long may he serve.

15. Second.
Yeah. Can you imagine WI being represented in the Senate by Johnson and Ryan? It'd be a race to the bottom.

@Sen. Kohl: Don't go!

16. Seriously - Scott Walker was elected governor of this State
...How much lower can you go? In my district (Senate District #1) Frank Lasee was elected with 60% of the vote running against a serious progressive who is also a medical doctor. Frank Lasee is to the right of David Vitter and at least as slimey. The pods around here seem as normal as the electorate they replaced.

who likes to chair the Education committee because he hates the University of Wisconsin so much. And we can't seem to get rid of him.

5. I don't, that's silly. There are not enough Liberals to single-handedly turn the election.
The middle was pissed and Feingold just happened to be the one up for reelection. My guess is that the same would have happened had it been Kohl, expet the right may not have been so enthusiastic about it.
