PORTLAND, Ore. -- Laurie Bembenek, the Playboy bunny-turned-police officer who was convicted of murder, has died after battling cancer, according to private investigator Ira Robins. Bembenek was 52.

Marty Carson, Bembenek's ex-husband and caregiver, released news of her death to Robins on Sunday morning.
