Walker catching heat over Galas
Edited on Thu Dec-30-10 10:48 AM by ewagner
I don't believe it!

Gannet newspapers finally doing something other than licking Walker's boots. They're taking him on over his expensive inaugural galas. Here's the opening paragraph:

"Our new governor will take office soon, and we're already dreading the message relayed when he parties at costly inaugural festivities in Madison. Doesn't Scott Walker realize now is a time of austerity, not ostentatiousness?"

and my favorite part:

"Walker made the "brown bag movement" a central theme of his campaign. Now that he's been elected, we feel cheated because we know his inaugural parties won't be the BYOB affairs that he should host to follow his mantra of fiscal responsibility."

and the kicker:

"To add our unease about the donations, Walker announced he and the Republican Party will keep funds left over from the inaugural celebrations.

That move just puts the whole thing over the top. Walker seems tone-deaf before his tenure even has begun. He should save the parties for when he actually accomplishes something for Wisconsin."

1. Dayton in Minnesota does it right
From our friends in the Minnesota forum:

Dayton announced Monday he would host a People's Inaugural Ball on Jan. 8 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, with tickets costing $30. Students and people with low incomes, the DFL governor-elect said, will be charged $15.

The dress code, according to Dayton, would be "blue jeans to black tie."

6. Yep, Dayton is doing it right
It seems as though Walker over there is really living it up. Very poor taste, it shows he is above the people and Dayton is mixing with the people (sadly now a radical idea).

2. Come on now. Walker is a typical republican.
Which, by definition, means he is an asshole. Ethics, morality, decency, laws, are for everyone else. In his delusional mind it's okay if he lies, cheats, steals, and kills, but if anyone else does it, they get jailed.
