(Nothing says "wow, it's been so long, how've you all been, hope you're doing OK!" quite like a campaign pitch.)

:hi:

Chris Larson's election to the state senate has triggered a special election to fill the remaining year of his term. My husband Jason Haas has thrown his hat into the ring.

www.haas4milwaukee.com

Chris is a strong progressive who did right by the district, and we've got the chance to replace him with someone who will continue to do right (left?) and will stand up for the things everyone in the county takes for granted but some don't seem to understand they cost money (or, alternatively, things people complain about their high taxes supporting bloated nonsense, until suddenly they need to ride the bus or rent a park facility or use the bathroom at the courthouse and then they wonder why it's falling apart).

(This is why I don't write publicity copy.)

There will be a primary Feb. 15, general election in April. (This coincides with the regular spring election.)

(If any of you are so inclined, there are "volunteer" and "contribute" buttons. There also will be a fundraiser on Jan. 26 at Transfer Pizzeria, if anyone wants to come.)

Thanks!

("Hey, eyesroll, aren't you supposed to get permission before posting this sort of stuff?" I got permission to post without permission in ATA. But, anyway, so long as a candidate is legit, a Democrat or clearly aligned in a non-partisan race, and there isn't a random Paypal link or something, we can post about it to our hearts' content.)

1. I'd love to vote for Jason
but unfortunately live out of the district. In any case, here's an endorsement from the dragonlady and dragongentleman. Jason is a true progressive and a nice guy, and deserves the support of DUers.

8. Hi, Midnight.
I will need to ask him, as this is an issue that I haven't discussed with him. (We're kinda ships-passing-in-the-night right now, as you can imagine.) I'm replying here to tag this in "My Posts" as a reminder. Thanks!

(Bushfire: :hi: Things are going well, and thanks for your help! He got SEIU's endorsement today!)

The primary is TUESDAY!

9. I e-mailed asking for his thoughts about the mental heath facility; here's the response:
We may be able to provide better patient care and have a safe environment providing mental health services at smaller
community-based facilities. Rather than having everything at one place, we could have centrally located services on the north and south
sides of town. I want the staff at these facilities to be 100% public employees -- no privatization, no way.

I think a lot of the problems we had stemmed from BHD being understaffed. Because of that, I want to make sure we have full staffing of nurses, other health workers, and security. Rather than forcing overtime on a reduced staff, we would prevent staff exhaustion and save money, even human lives, by having full staffing at the facilities. I think the costs of lawsuits and worker turnover have cost us more than it would have cost to have full staff on hand.

Thanks!

10. Thank you for your input.... I really think adequate staffing is crucial...
It sounds like your husband would be in favor of what has been proposed via walker and that is to move the site? Is this what he is referencing when he talks about smaller community based facilities? Right now having the site where it is makes the developers anxious... They can't wait to take this land.... I'm not sure those impacting the over all care of the patient understand the need to keep this community together with other leading health care facilities in this area... Size has never been a problem in achieving the care of our communities children at the Children's hospital or Froedtert hospital care of cancer patients by keeping it small... Size will not help those working in this facility.... Staffing yes... So your husband is addressing a concern that gets passed around a lot... When your husband references security is he talking about the staff at MBH? Milwaukee co. DA, John Chisholm, spoke with the staff and indicated that police are protected by the law from abuse and so should this health care facility, but nothing has come from that meeting a few years back.... Just some things to think about...

12. Who were you referring to?
If it's Chris Abele, Jason is much more handsome, and he is a Democrat. (Although they aren't running against each other.)

13. It was Jason... gramma was smitten!
She's a life long dem... so even if Jason was mug-ugly she'd still vote for him. When she's not sure what dem candidate to support, she asks me "Who does the union want?" She reads the paper front to back every day, and dissects each piece of mail. I can't print any of her comments about Walker... They get a little salty.
