1. Excellent idea, but...
people have to realize that recall can't start until he's been in office for one year (clearly stated in Wisconsin's constitution).

:(

3. And so there is no point in delaying getting organized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was an SOB as county executive. And he will be an SOB as Governor.

He needs to have his eyebrows singed by public opinion.

Wisconsinites DIED fighting for the 8-hour work-day. We will most assuredly stand face to face against the National Guard AGAIN to protect rights granted by the United States and the United Nations.

Militant tyranny is Walker's indelible mistake.

4. Absolutely

But now is the time to organize, for people to make contact and to KNOW the laws.

I ran a local recall that was successful, and it took a helluvalot of work, even for a tiny little town. This would be a massive effort on a state level.

Build and educate the network NOW, so when we're ready to push the "go" button, it will all be in place. Egypt did not happen overnight - there was a lot of planning and work that went into it well ahead of January 25th.

(edited to ask if there is a good metaphor to replace "pull the trigger," which I won't use anymore? I want to convey action without violence. "Push the go button" is pretty namby-pamby)

5. Exactly, Wisconsinites lack nothing
that the people of Egypt have.

Supression of recognized rights to collectively bargain will only bring Wisconsin to the brink of civil disobedience and Walker to humiliating defeat.

In his irrational belief that he has assumed a dictatorial power, he has destroyed his political future!

7. Everything you say is spot on
Here's a link to the GAB manuals on recall for those who want to read up on what's involved:

http://gab.wi.gov/manuals/recall
http://gab.wi.gov/clerk/education-training/election-administration-manual-recall

The FAQ there notes that the recall committee can file its registration, which begins the 60-day period for collecting signatures, so that the completed petitions can be filed just after the first year of the term is completed. So that would mean registering around November 5 and filing petitions right after January 3, 2012. It's going to take about half a million valid signatures (and the forces of darkness will challenge every one).

8. Unfortunately, you are all too correct
about the challenges. It will be agonizing.

For our local recall, we checked absolutely every petition page to make sure every detail was correct and complete. Because it is a small town, we checked the signatures against the poll lists and tax rolls, and were able to validate virtually every signature before it was even presented to the Clerk. One does not have to be a registered voter or landowner to sign the petition, but it was the easiest way for us to double-check addresses, etc.

One of the officials at the State Elections Board who gave me a lot of advice told me that most recall petitions that are rejected at the state level are tossed out due to tiny, avoidable mistakes like miscounting days, and signature collectors forgetting to sign their pages. Working on the state level will just mean we have to have a lot of detail-oriented nitpickers involved from the start, to make sure none of the enthusiasm and the butt-busting work of the people goes to waste.

But hey, it's not like having to fashion a helmet out of bread and doing battle with secret police out on the streets of Cairo.

Thanks for putting up the links - I hope everyone reads the manuals! :hi:

14. sorry about that
I had been looking forward to being able to take the train up to visit MN, But Nooooooooooooooooooo... little scottie walker didn't want the jobs and the near-billion federal dollars for our state.

On the bright side, you'll probably be able to smell and see our new strip mining operations from your house. :grr:

This guy just couldn't be any worse! :banghead:

(don't let him hear you criticize him, though, or he might send our National Guard over to kick your butt :hide:)

17. WTF?????
I can't get to it either. It shows in my search box when I start typing it in, but it's just gone! I'm going to write to a couple of friends who were following that page, too. Why would a page with 3 or 4 thousand "friends" suddenly disappear??? :tinfoilhat:

I'm not sure if there was a coordinated effort to shift focus but there is a fast growing group, "Vote No on Walker's Budget Bill". Nearly 20,000 strong in less than 2 days.

There is also the "Scott Walker is a Douchebag" which appears to be a nice place to vent:
