Our esteemed ewagner first mentioned the idea that eight of the current Republican senators are eligible to be recalled NOW. I just happened on a website started by somebody who took the first step for recalling Alberta Darling if she votes for the "budget repair" bill. Alberta represents the North Shore in Milwaukee County plus Washington County, parts of Ozaukee and Waukesha counties, and a few wards of Milwaukee. So far 1,177 have signed up to support recall (they don't have to be her constituents).
Here's the link to the website:
http://recallalbertadarling.org/ They also are on Facebook and Twitter (links from that page).
In 2008 Alberta's Democratic challenger came within just 1,007 votes (49.45%). Other especially vulnerable Republicans: Randy Hopper in District 18 (Dodge, Fond du Lac, and Winnebago counties), who won by 185 votes (challenger 49.83%); and Dan Kapanke in District 32 (LaCrosse and nearby counties) who won by 2,507 (challenger 48.53%). The others either ran unopposed or won with 56% (Harsdorf) or 80% (Grothman--grrr).
Does anyone know of similar efforts in the other districts?
