Can someone please talk me down after reading this article in the WP?

I've been so excited about being able to get to Madison 3 times this passed week. Then I came across this article. I thought Milwaukee hated this guy and were happy to see him go. Then I read that he had won re-election there? I sort of remember him getting in on a special election, how much time was handed to him by the incumbent? Did he not show his true colors until the 2nd term?

Sounds like he won't back down or change his mind no matter what happens. I'm so sick of hearing "this shouldn't come as any surprise, I ran on these issues". Shit, I wasn't listening to what he was promising, he wasn't getting my vote, why bother paying attention. (Hard lesson learned). I read another article somewhere today that said he also campaigned on dumping corporate taxes. I'm sure that one will be coming up next. I am feeling defeated right now.....help?

The governor’s Tea Party allies attempted to grab the spotlight with a rally at the state Capital. Unfortunately, the much-hyped event, which national Tea Party groups had poured money and organizing energy into generating, drew an anemic crowd of several thousand. Even by the optimistic estimates of the Tea Partisans themselves, the pro-Walker turnout was one-tenth the size of the crowd that came to oppose the governor’s so-called “budget repair bill.”

The governor made things worse for himself by going on CNN and announcing that he had received 19,000 e-mails from the “quiet majority” of Wisconsinites since he made his proposal and claimed that most of them were supportive.

Dumb move. Really dumb move.

Within hours of making his claim, the streets of Madison were filled by what veteran political organizers described as the largest demonstration ever seen in the city. Former Mayor Paul Soglin, a key organizer of anti–Vietnam War protests, said, “We had some big demonstrations in the sixties, but this is bigger.”

5. Won special election after the county pension scandal

was better organized than his challenger and had momentum on his side. He was in the Assembly at the time, was a pundit on local TV civic affairs shows, so he had the name recognition.

Once he was in, he was just like any other incumbent. Hard to defeat.

people would want to boot him out...but I guess there's something to say about the fear of change, especially when in the midst of a crisis. Wasn't that part of the mindset when W got his 2nd term? Ugh
