Are we on offense or defense?
Are we waiting for little Scotty to make the next move or are we taking an offensive action?

What?

Exactly?

...is an offensive action at this point?

1. An offensive action? I dunno. Pissing in Scotty's Scotch maybe.
Anyway, it seems to me that accepting the offense/defense military/sports metaphor might be a limitation on our creativity. Maybe an evolutionary model or a Sheldrakeian morphogenetic model or an information-theory model or something might lead to a more creative way to visualize what we're doing. Instead of winning or losing a game/battle, we're maybe changing the rules, changing the whole layout of the board, changing the character of the players.

Maybe I've been working on my current eval report too long or something, but these ideas are sort of tickling my brain right now.

7. I'd like to think you're right, Jackpine
I think that's why this has always felt to me like something so much bigger than a fight against union-busting.

3. Battle of attrition
This is a resource battle.

We have people, the dem 14 and grass roots national movement, the rethugs have money and state power.

Relax it's going to be awhile.

4. Should be both. The 14 are doing a holding action to defend against
the bill being rubber stamped by the republican robots. Offensively, we should be getting out the messages of recall, impeachment, and possibly indictment for conspiracy. Keep them busy defending/spending against multiple fronts.

6. Getting the message out
Getting the message out that public workers have already agreed to the benefits concessions should be a priority too. The "it's not about the money" message seems to be missing in most coverage of the issue. Virtually all coverage I've seen makes it sound like the reason folks took to the capital are just (or at least primarily) to protest wage and benefit concessions, when nothing could be farther from the truth, if you talk to people actually out there.

To be fair, once the media has agreed on its version of the narrative, I don't know how you can get them to change tack, but doing so should be on the "things to do" list.
