you MUST WITNESS the signing of the petition, and fill out and sign the section at the bottom of EACH PAGE. You cannot leave the petition unattended (eg, at a table at a rally or store).
As a circulator, it is your responsibility to make sure the printed name/address, etc. are complete and legible. Don't leave the door open for challenge of any of the signatures you collect.
I'm a hard-ass nit-picker, but that's part of what helped me manage a successful recall election against a local official here.
And please, as you're circulating petitions, tell people to verify their current registration at
https://vpa.wi.gov/VoterSearchScreen.aspx?Language=en-usand to register if they're not already. People should register NOW, don't take our same-day registration for granted. We'll be losing it soon, thanks to the republicans, but in the meantime, you know there will be more and more challenges, so we need to be proactive.
Don't even take your own registration for granted. I know some people who have voted in the same town for YEARS, and were suddenly dropped off the rolls before the last election. If we hadn't had same-day registration, those people wouldn't have been able to vote!
