2011 SENATE BILL 38: Now they are selling the executive residence in Maple Bluff
"This bill directs DOA to publicly offer the executive residence, together with its
appurtenant real and personal property, for sale to the highest responsible bidder."

"Governors of Wisconsin, and their families, have resided in the Maple Bluff mansion along the shores of Lake Mendota since 1949, which is when the State of Wisconsin acquired the building for $47,500."

2. Once he has control over UW-Madison, there will be plenty to sell.

More depressing than snarky, I guess.

edit: I forgot- they are planning to sell off the state owned forests in northern Wisconsin.

5. Why are they introducing this?

Aren't the Republicans supposed to be the ones selling off the state?

edit: I see:

...Wirch, who was unreachable for comment Wednesday, said in his news release that selling the mansion is not a partisan matter for him. He noted that he first proposed doing so in 2002, when Democrat Jim Doyle was taking the office of the governor.

“Change should start at the top,” Wirch said. “It is hard to set a good example if you are living in a mansion.”

6. Why not sell the Capitol itself?
Randy Alexander could turn it into condos, and they could move the state legislature to the old Food 4 Less building on Midvale. Or the DOT service state in Westgate is vacant, too.
