Walker jobs program includes more shopping in the town of Brookfield..
Wathing the 10:00 P.m. news.... There are not enough working people to warrant another shopping mall.... What a waste of money.... The town of Brookfield is the home of disgraced former state senator Jensen...

Legislation allowing the Town of Brookfield to create a tax incremental financing district to help fund public improvements at a retail and office development will be signed Thursday by Gov. Scott Walker at Town Hall.

The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Richard Zipperer and Rep. Paul Farrow, both Republicans from Pewaukee, passed the Senate unanimously and the Assembly on a voice vote.

Towns are otherwise not allowed to use TIF districts to help finance retail projects.

The legislation was opposed by City of Brookfield Mayor Steve Ponto and the owner of Brookfield Square, Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties Inc. They're worried that the Marcus development will draw retailers away from Brookfield Square and other W. Blue Mound Road buildings, and result in jobs being shifted from one retail center to another instead of being created.http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/business/118581119.html?page=4

1. But, if you don't count
But, if you don't count the jobs that move away from one location,
And just count the jobs that open at the new location,

Then you can make it look like you created jobs! Woohoo!

I bet that's the kind of math Scotty uses.

2. mixed feelings
Don't feel real sorry for brookfield square--one of their anchors blocked the department store moving in there. The place where this is going is sort of blighted in a bluemound road new buildings every 20 feet sort of way.
