What is the procedure for the recall election?
I am a bit unclear about the language.

My reading leads me to believe that if there are more than 2 candidates that there will be a primary recall election. BUT, the primary will not be based on political party. Rather everyone will be thrown on the same ballot and the top two vote getters will advance to the recall election. It is unlikely, but it could be 2 Republicans.

What could also happen is that instead of having one clear choice against the scumbag Republican there is more than one Democratic candidate resulting in resources being wasted in a primary when it could be avoided. I do hope that a primary is avoided and there is a good Democratic candidate. Or if there are only 3 candidates and there is a primary that the Democratic candidate receives the necessary 50% plus votes to avoid the runoff.

Anybody, have a clearer explanation of the process?

2. Did you read the rules?
I read them and gave what I thought the interpretation was. You didn't confirm or provide more clarity which was what I was really trying to get. I had already read what you linked to before I posted and there is some ambiguity in the language.

It does not look like it will be a primary election as most are if there is more than 2 candidates.

5. dragonlady's post cleared up the issue.
Her link has the requirement when it is a partisan election. I didn't find that point in your link. That is why I wasn't sure as to the procedure.

4. You need to use a different GAB manual
See "Recall of Congressional, State and County Officials." (Before anybody gets excited about recalling Congress members, the federal laws trump this and it's not possible.)

A recall primary shall be held for each party (on separate ballots) if more than one candidate is competing. The winner in each party advances to the recall election. Independent candidates can be shown only on the recall election ballot. If the incumbent resigns after the registration of the recall campaign (that is, resigning now) the recall goes ahead. If the incumbent resigns more than 10 days after the certification of the petitions, he or she will still appear on the ballot. If the incumbent doesn't resign, he or she continues in office until the winner of the recall election is certified.

6. Thanks. It had what I was looking for.
The other link didn't have anything about partisan elections. Big difference.

7. Do they have candidates to run against the recalled
state senators? Does anyone know? The window for getting signatures and filing the appropriate papers is narrow.
