When I got to the poll at about 8:15 a.m. in my remote corner of Brown County the woman in front of me (#87)showed the election workers an envelope that from what I could see appeared to be an absentee ballot envelope. She told the workers that the absentee ballot she had in the envelope was the ballot of her husband, and she witnessed his vote. She insisted that she be allowed to put the absentee ballot into the counting machine at the polling site. The workers said O.K. and she put the ballot into the machine. Although I do not know how he/she voted, the arrogance and distain she showed the elderly women working at the site made me almost certain she was a Republican. The election workers kept the envelope. The ballot was in an envelope, and should be able to be easily identified because the ballot was clearly folded. I know the count for our precinct should be off because of this, the election workers did not assign a number for the absentee ballot.
Did this happen in other areas? Is this legal?
