Corrects information about school property
ROTHSCHILD — Concealed carry will become law in Wisconsin next week when Gov. Scott Walker signs the legislation in Rothschild.
The signing ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. July 8 at the Grand Lodge, 805 Creske Ave.
The bill allows gun owners to apply for a permit to carry concealed weapons, including handguns and knives. The process requires proof of training in gun safety.
The weapons would be barred on school grounds, police stations, jails and prisons, courthouses, secure mental health facilities, and beyond airport security checkpoints.
State Sen. Pam Galloway, R-Wausau, sponsored the concealed carry legislation.
After Walker signs the bill into law, Illinois will become the only state to ban concealed carry.
