PITTSBURGH, July 13, 2011 -- Union Leaders Look Forward to Ending Walker's Attacks on Workers
PITTSBURGH, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United Steelworkers (USW) today congratulated the six Wisconsin Democrats who beat Republican-backed, so-called "Protest Democrats" in primary elections throughout the state in districts where Republican incumbents will face recall elections this summer.

"The people of Wisconsin took another major step toward reclaiming their government from the right-wing, anti-union and anti-worker special interests," said USW International President Leo W. Gerard. "Scott Walker's agenda now has an expiration date."
By forcing these primaries, Wisconsin Republicans bought about four weeks for the legislators facing recall to campaign.
USW District 2 Director Michael Bolton said the importance of next month's recall elections cannot be overstated.
"We have an opportunity now to regain control of the state senate and to put the brakes on Governor Walker's extremist agenda," Bolton said. "As a Labor community, we should be proud of what we have accomplished and continue to prepare for next month's general elections."
The USW is the largest industrial union in North America and represents workers in a broad array of industries and sectors.
