I'm sure by now we've all seen the fantastic video of Walker attempting to give a ceremonial type of speech at Gateway College. The crowd totally drowned him out!

Now Rock County Dems have a chance for a magical moment of their own! Governor Walker will be in Rock County (Beloit) on Monday (7-18-11, 3:30pm) for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Visitor Center located on I-39/90. Let's make our voices heard!

3. You gotta love protesting Herr Walker ... in your face type of dissent
Edited on Tue Jul-19-11 06:21 AM by Yon_Yonson
Now that was fun and I need one of these protests once a week to keep the blood flowing.

I am not finding much in the news, if that's what you can call it, but I did find this. It's a NEOCON rag so it's not saying much about the protesters.

I figured we outnumbered them about 3 to 1 and it was held in a small room. I was toward the back and I couldn't hear a thing because of the chants and my duck call didn't help. Herr Walker snug in and out a back door as is common for this weasel but his departing black SUV was bombarded with chants and one finger salutes.

5. I get the Rockford TV stations.
You know that Rockford is only about an hour from Madison, and many people here work in Wisconsin. Their news is our news. They do report quite often on things that happen in Janesville and Beloit.

During the height of the protests, I tried all three local news stations. I timed their coverage. The one that reported the most devoted about 90 seconds to happenings in Madison.

However, this protest was reported, along with film clips. I think that is because they can't ignore what happens in Beloit. It is so close to us.

I have complained in the past. I think the 90 second coverage is in response to people like me. They can whine, "We covered the story." Yeah, right.

6. Wisconsin Protesters Dominate Scott Walker Event
Wisconsin Protesters Dominate Scott Walker Event
July 19, 2011
By Sarah Jones

A midday snack for you, in honor of the first cycle of recall elections in Wisconsin today, including Hansen v VanderLeest (aka: The Dem v the Wife Beater). The protesters in Wisconsin rocked another Walker event yesterday. These people KNOW how to protest! They sang and chanted during the event, even managing to get most of the news shooters to finally turn around to get a shot of them. One of the protesters yelled at shooters that the story is behind them. Indeed it is. And that is exactly how you protest effectively. They made the story about them by dominating the presser.

But the story was also outside, because Wisconsin protesters know how to get in the shot no matter what. So they had a group waiting outside for Walker’s ignoble exit.

Protesters vs. Scott Walker in Beloit, courtesy of Defend Wisconsin:

From “Shame, shame, shame!” to “Recall Walker!” to “Hey, hey, good-bye” to “Resign!Resign! If you have a spine!”, the protesters showed the same amazing Midwestern spirit as they did on day one of this travesty.

When you’re feeling cynical and overwhelmed by the ugliness of our modern day politics, watch a Wisconsin protest video. They’ll put a smile on your face and remind you just what democracy looks like. In honor of these great American patriots, a rousing chorus of “Hey, Walker, we surround you!” in order.
