"Justice Prosser's commitment is to the oath of office. By no means would any contractual obligation (with a lawyer) cloud that obligation." Brian Nemoir, campaign director for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser.
Some statements are so ridiculous — and utterly abhorrent to the concept of an independent judiciary — that they deserve immediate rejection from anyone looking for a fair hearing when they have their day in court. Prosser, who recently won re-election to the high court after a bruising campaign and divisive recount last spring, raised $272,887 in campaign contributions during the recount period.
He spent more than $75,000 on legal services at the Troupis Law Office, which has a major First Amendment case before the court, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The newspaper reports attorney Jim Troupis is representing tea party groups and other conservatives in a case they brought last year to halt state regulations on political speech.
