Including all public and private sectors, the state lost a net 2,300 non-farm jobs in the one-month period, adjusted for seasonal factors.
"We aren't immune from what's happening nationally," Walker said in a statement issued several hours before the state Department of Workforce Development issued the unemployment report Thursday. "As Washington plays politics with jobs, my administration will continue to listen to ways we can create stability and confidence in our state."
