State loses 9,300 private-sector jobs in October

By John Schmid of the Journal Sentinel
Nov. 17, 2011 12:20 p.m.

Wisconsin lost an estimated 9,300 private-sector jobs in October in the state's fourth consecutive month of job losses, according to data released Thursday by the state Department of Workforce Development.

The losses were almost as deep as the 10,800 decline in private-sector jobs in July.

Cities, counties, police departments and school districts continued to shed workers, cutting an estimated 1,900 jobs statewide in October, according to the data.

All told, with losses in the private and government sectors, the state lost 9,700 non-farm jobs last month.

The unemployment rate, tallied from a separate government survey, crept lower, to 7.7% in October from 7.8% in September.

All the numbers are seasonally adjusted to smooth out employment fluctuations that result from annual changes in weather and school holidays.

1. And Doofus is on those ads talking about his mystical 250,000 jobs created illusion
Jobs created where? Not here, that's for sure. Wonder how they'll bury this?

2. What?
Didn't I hear that Wisconsin was "open for business"? Tax cuts for corporations would save us. What happened?

3. No business would invest in a politically & financially unstable climate/
region/state. All they have to do is go south to Illinois where conditions are much better.
Walker/Kochs lie to Wisconsinites in some of the most unbelievable statements. Americans for Prosperity new ad in
Wisconsin doesn't even mention Walker's name---guess they are getting ready to toss him out.

4. Super interesting footnote: IL ADDED 30,000 jobs...
So, I guess they're not taking Walker up on his offer to move on up north.
