2. Reggie's life was full of contradictions

He was the "Minister of Defense", a tremendous physical force at gametime, but always leading on-field prayer sessions after the cometition was over. His beliefs clearly prejudiced his outlook, but at least he was pretty much out front about it. I do believe that you are correct in saying that he was mellowing and broadening his viewpoint since retiring from football. In my mind he should be neither deified or demonized, especially in retrospect.

A fact that very few people outside of Green Bay know is that Reggie and his wife established a small business incubator center there called Urban Hope that is still in existence and got several people I know personally off to a successful start in business without any prejudice or religious mumbo jumbo that I have heard of.

4. Nice post, Will

I did not know of his faith crisis and am pleased to hear he sought to know more. I believed Reggie was one of the good guys, though his religion kept tripping him up. It would have been nice to see the real Reggie White come out the other side of that crisis of faith. If reason won that battle, I think we would have seen the fine human being he was. And I think he was so motivated by his big heart that he would have done great things.
