The Republicans have announced that they are also after eliminating same-day voter registration. This has the potential to be even more damaging to turnout than the voter ID requirement, which is bad enough. I was a poll watcher in Milwaukee for the last election and saw probably hundreds of people register that day. It's especially needed if the election bureau has the registration lists fouled up, because the voter can just register again and let them figure it out after the election at their leisure. But if you aren't on the list, it's just too bad--go home and try again next year.
