This was in response to their editorial criticizing Jim Doyle for not proposing a strong energy plan for the state.
http://www.wisinfo.com/northwestern/news/opinion/stories/opinion_21328867.shtmlRepublicans’ legislative goal is to foil DoyleI don't know if you've noticed but the way the Republicans have been playing games with divisive issues such as concealed carry, gay marriage and such the past few years to purposely back Gov. Jim Doyle into a corner, there's no way that our governor could present anything useful and get it on the floor or passed.
The Republicans want nothing less than total failure for Doyle and use every bill they touch to try to compromise him in the next election. Doyle could come up with the most efficient energy policy ever and they would sweep it under the rug before it ever got anywhere.
Doyle and the Democrats are caught right now. Even while they have a property tax freeze plan they are trying to garner support for they know that John Gard and the far-right in the state Assembly will never let that bill move.
Thus lies the problem in your complaint. Doyle may not have pushed for a deep enough energy agenda, but it's not as if he can get it moved in this climate anyways. Hopefully, voters have wised up to this and will shift more of the power back to Democrats in 2006 to even the power on the Assembly floors and give any real legislation in the future a chance.
