I posted this on GD but I wanted to share it with my fellow WI DUers. I think the Wausau Daily Herald out did themselves with the great heading they gave my letter.

Deep Throat critics are protecting corrupt current administration


Editor: I can't believe that anyone would seriously consider Mark Felt anything but a hero. He had a lifelong career with the government and knew all about the chain of command. He also knew that in this instance the chain was too corrupted to work as it was meant to. Mr. Felt put his country first and did the right thing.
I can think of only two reasons to vilify Mr. Felt's role in outing the criminal element in the Republican Party. One is blind allegiance to the party and the other is an attempt to scare anyone else from blowing the whistle on the current corrupt administration. We don't need a Deep Throat as enough of the damning information already is out there. Half of the Americans know it as does the rest of the world. What we do need is a media that isn't in the pocket of the Republican elite. Yes, some of the reporters might lean left in their private lives, but they are bound to report what the "boss" dictates and the "boss" is big corporations that benefit highly from the Republican administration.

Wake up, America. We still can save ourselves. We just have to stop taking the lies that the Republican officeholders and their shills spoonfeed us!

5. Our editor really goes out of his way to show both sides

My only wish is that when someone submits a letter that has factual errors they refuse to print it without the author correcting the errors or add a footnote to the letter pointing out the truth.

2. Moral Equivalency

Somebody posted the other day that the media has been trying to imply that Deep Throat's critics have the moral equivalency to Woodward and Berstein by having them appear side-by-side in the discussions.

Is G Liddy morally equivalent to Bob Woodward? I hardly think so.

In addition, let me say how much I agree with a point made in your letter, that the critics of Deep Throat, calling him a traitor and demeaning him in every way possible, are serving up a lesson to any other would-be Deep Throats, that there is a price to pay for exposing the right wing.
