Is anybody going to watch The Tommy Douglas Story on CBC?
I am a little disappointed that I no longer have the CBC. The cable provider here in Spokane does not carry CBC if you can believe that. I saw the previews and it looks good. I also wished more Americans would know about this great man. I am sure he would have made a great Prime Minister for Canada.

1. Sure am
The trailer looks promising.

Every nation needs its myths to live by. Tommy's one of Canada's best, because his legacy of public health care is still alive and can use all the help it can get.

2. It speaks well of a country when the guy that got universal health care
off the ground is revered as a top national icon.

I plan to watch.

I lived in regina at the time they filmed it--no they didn't film it in the original places, but they sure did use a lot of old cars.

A couple of times they had 'calls' out for people with older cars from that generation to come out and 'park' them for scenes. There is one large highway scene highlighting one of Tommy's big speeches that uses quite a few.

Being Saskatchewan, they had NO trouble finding some real gems, apparantly and a Hollywood-type 'casting' guy was quite impressed by the quality and depth as he was interviewed at the time for I believe local CBC radio.

He said he knew where to go if he needed 'era' trucks and cars in the future!! LOL...

5. Write your cable company, and tell them this...
Kiefer Sutherland is Tommy Douglas' grandson. He is. If it's too hard to sell a program about Douglas being the father of universal health care in Canada, tell them it'll have all the guts and drama of '24'!!
;-)

9. PM me if you'd like a tape
I imagine the CBC will be selling DVDs of this, but I have been taping the show and can put it in the mail to you tomorrow, if you'd prefer that.
