Anyone else disgusted by the Vancouver police?
Two dozen cops assigned (immediately!) to the Graham McMynn kidnapping case, and Police spokesman Constable Howard Chow said, "Investigators are working relentlessly on this around the clock....Our No. 1 priority remains to bring home Graham McMynn safely."

Quite a different attitude compared to the years before Willy Pickton was arrested:

As long ago as 1993, Jamie Lee Hamilton, a long-time Downtown Eastside resident and an outspoken
prostitute advocate, approached police with concerns that a serial killer was on the loose. “They were in denial and completely indifferent, in my opinion,” Hamilton says. She believes that if the missing women were Kitsilano joggers or Kerrisdale socialites, detectives would be pursuing the investigation with considerably more vigour.

By the time the Vancouver Police set up its original nine-member task force in September 1998, 20 women had already disappeared from the Downtown Eastside since 1986. In April 1999, with local activists and media ratcheting up the pressure, the city and the B.C. Attorney General’s office offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for any of the disappearances.

Has any journalist picked up on this? I assumed I couldn't possibly be the only one to notice the sad inconsistency, but I haven't noticed anything in the media.

1. Oh yeah...
One of the most corrupt forces anywhere in North America, IMHO...

Jeez, remember them just a few weeks ago publicly leveraging the new mayor Sam Sullivan over his --um-- legal standing.
Or their frequent and actually treasonous attacks on Her Majesty's judiciary, especially when they fucked up and try to pass the blame.
Or the fact they openly ban media outlets they don't like to punish them.
Or their actions during the Vancouver riot/riots.
Or the pedophile ring.
Or the drug ring.
Or their frequent political actions
Or the punch up in a mob club with members of the Angels.
Or their punch up in Stanley Park
Or huge number of unarmed shootings and killings...my fav was the crazy guy armed with a butter knife (or not) in a DES rooming house shot dead by a top cop that the VERY next day was sworn in as Police Chief.
Or the fact they can't manage their finances or resources and are contempible of anyone that suggests it

Indeed complaints about Pickton, his farm, his assocation with organzied crime, the frequent visits of police go back to '98 actually. If you recall, their profiler, Kim Rossmo, they had, pegged Pickton early on, but then due to the old boys' network, they wrongly dismissed him and so he ended up suing them.

Etc Etc...Corrupt to the Core
(too bad more of the local media archive wasn't online)

3. Yeah, they are a scum police force
But, in my experience, all police forces are.
They always cover their own asses and act above the law.
Good example, in Princeton, the cop used a taser to WAKE A GUY UP, that was passed out in cells.
The guy had a seizure, the cop was charged with assault with a weapon. Know when the media found out?

ON THE DAY OF THE SENTENCING.

Know why? Cause a prosecutor in Penticton walked up to a reporter who was about to leave the courtroom and said, "Stick around for this next one."

The cops never put out a release or anything to say they had a member on such charges. And I can tell you, I worked in that town, and they sent us the most trivial shit for "news".

Fucking scumbags, thought they'd get away with something.

One thing I do on the job is size cops up straight away, if they seem like decent humans I'm respectful and courteous to them. If they seem like bastards, I treat them like shit and take no guff from them what-so-ever.

I was at the coroner's inquest into the guy who was shot 12 times by the VPD. You shoulda seen the one cop on the stand.
She was so casual and bouncey, meanwhile the guy's family is in the front row bawling their eyes out.
Total sociopath.

2. Well, the difference is...
He was kidnapped in broad daylight with witnesses. So there's really no way they can pretend it isn't happening.
