OTTAWA — A report on Maher Arar's arrest, deportation and torture in Syria is being delayed yet again by bickering over how much of the evidence can be made public.
A commission of inquiry into the affair, headed by Justice Dennis O'Connor, announced Tuesday that no findings will be released until ``the end of the summer" — the third postponement since testimony finished last fall.
O'Connor had originally hoped to issue a report by the end of 2005, then set his sights on this spring.
The latest delay came the same day Prime Minister Stephen Harper was trumpeting a new Accountability Act aimed at promoting transparency and openness on government.
