Quebec poll: Conservatives 34%, BQ 31%
Tories tied with Bloc

May 02, 2006 (CP)

The federal Conservatives and the Bloc Quebecois are running neck-and-neck for support in Quebec, suggests a new public opinion poll. The CROP poll gave the Tories 34 percent of votes in Quebec, compared to 31 percent for the Bloc.

Eleven percent of the 1,002 respondents were undecided while just 15 percent said they would have voted Liberal, slightly more than the 13 percent who said they would have voted for the NDP.

The poll, conducted for Montreal La Presse between April 20-30, had a margin of error of three percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

In the Jan. 23 federal election, the Conservatives garnered 25 percent of the vote in Quebec, compared to 42 percent for the Bloc.

1. Glad tidings for the CPC
Good fortune in Quebec makes it easier to tell people in Toronto and Vancouver to fuck off.

2. agree with you
Though I'm sure we'll disagree about what can and should be done about it.

I think there's a lot of wishful thinking here that Harper's self-destructing. For all his mistakes he's enjoying an extended honeymoon among significant blocks that, for their own reasons, want his government to succeed.

4. BTW, why is it that
the Conservatives and the Bloc are described as "tied" and "running neck-and-neck" with a three-point gap between them, while the Liberals are said to have "slightly more" support than the NDP on account of a two-point gap between them?

Just sayin'.
