The Tory ties of the Green Party's new leader
Elizabeth May, the longtime head of the Sierra Club of Canada who was recently chosen to lead the Green Party, has many connections to liberal movements.

Her mother was a prominent peace activist in Connecticut who organized for the Democrats and worked with former U.S. president Bill Clinton on the campaign of left-wing presidential candidate George McGovern. May followed in her mother's footsteps after the family moved to Nova Scotia while she was in her teens, becoming a prominent environmentalist and lawyer.

Now she's hoping to lure liberal voters away from the NDP and the Liberals.

What is less known about May are her connections with the Tories under former prime minister Brian Mulroney. May was a senior policy advisor to Mulroney's environment minister, Tom McMillan, from 1986 to 1988.

1. Has it occurred to you...
...that the reason Mulroney government wasn't as destructive of the environment as some other recent governments have been (I still can't bring myself to fully praise anything Mulroney ever did, so I'll just say he was "not as bad" rather than being actually "good" for the environment), might have had something to do with the influence of Elizabeth May on Mulroney's environment minister?

2. Are you asking me specifically?
Just wondering, because sometimes people presume the slant of an article to be the same as that of the person who posted it. I suppose some do post that way, but I'll post anything I think my fellow Soviet Canuckistanis might find interesting.

(And to answer your question, yes I did.)

3. Yes, I suppose I might have been presuming that.
For some reason, my brain farted and I thought you'd written it yourself. I even followed the link, and my brain was apparently still in fart-mode.

(And for the record, I think so too, although wasn't she herself the most recent person who praised Mulroney's environmental record?)

4. Question her party loyalities?
In Canada?

Forget about Emerson, Charest, Rae, Dosjani, MacKay, Bryson, Stronach, etc etc etc...no worry there.

Oh and don't even think about mentioning Layton's grand papa who was a Union Nationale cabinet minister under Duplessie or that his dad was a Liberal party kingmaker who backstabbed them and became a Mulroney cabinet minister...nope, never question his CV or the lack of success as a Toronto city councillor...or what exactly has Harper accomplished in his career before reaching the lofty heights of PM.

No the character and motives of those people are above the fold...

Forget all that...Let's worry instead about the new Green leader's ideological purity or (lack thereof in reference to, what exactly...not sure...never could figure that one out when mostly the NDP cult and their liberal pals were smearing Harris with his foray as a Young Tory in college in the last election.....?????)
