Our neocon defence Minister said yesterday...
Edited on Tue Sep-19-06 07:36 AM by Bragi
"The only ones calling for a removal of Canadian troops are the Taliban and the NDP." (or something to that effect.)

Note that what goes unnoticed in the above statement is that the plurality of Canadians also think Canada should not be in this war.

Note how the attempted marginalization by the neocons of mainstream Canadian opinion on the war continues unabated, and that their real message -- anyone who doesn't support Harper's war policy supports the Taliban -- is amplified, as usual, by irresponsible media who report this blather without any context.

Gosh, almost makes you think there may be something systemmmic going on here...

1. I heard it...
It was on the radio -- I didn't even know it was Gordon "impossible to defeat the Taliban militarily" O' Connor until the end...

It was too much -- the jerk lost his intellectual footing when the the interviewer did tell him that the NDP position has the support of a majority of Canadians...it was then he shifted over to the 'holier than thou' fuck democracy schtick, so loved by these corrupt racist neo-con.

It was galling to see this phelgm wad attempt to avoid any question that reflect poorly on his 'best defense is an offense' attack so loved by the chickenhawks up North.

2. I saw it on TV and said to my wife "And most Canadian people."
I'm sure lots of viewers responded just that way. That's the danger of an apparently catchy but ill thought-out buzz-phrase.

4. Standard Bushian politics
Tear the country apart by making false and cynical appeals to patriotism. Call everyone who doesn't agree with you a traitor.
