Angus Reid: Conservatives Lead, NDP Surges in Canada
The governing Conservative party is holding on to the top position in Canada, according to a poll by The Strategic Counsel released by CTV and the Globe and Mail. 35 per cent of respondents would vote for the Tories in the next election to the House of Commons.

The Liberal party is second with 26 per cent, followed by the New Democratic Party (NDP) with 19 per cent, the Bloc Québécois with 12 per cent, and the Green party with eight per cent. Support for both the Tories and the Grits fell by three points since late July, while backing for the NDP increased by four points.

Canadians renewed the House of Commons in January. The Conservative party—led by Stephen Harper—received 36.3 per cent of the vote, and secured 124 seats in the 308-member lower house. Since February, Harper leads a minority administration after more than 12 years of government by the Liberal party.

Earlier this month, the NDP held its national convention in Quebec City. Layton criticized the current federal administration for "blindly following American foreign policy" and urged for more attention to topics such as poverty, climate change and the AIDS epidemic.

1. Surge?
Going back to what you got in the last election is hardly a surge for the New Dems...?

I guess they figured they might have gotten more from the Afghanistan withdrawal and the convention coverage ...really shows they are capped and a waste of space really serving no real purpose federally.

I am sure their Cult will disagree about how they are still important or relevent to keep the liberals honest ... :eyes:
